- What/Who is important to me?
- What is my purpose?
- What/Who makes me happy?
- What gets my adrenaline pumping?
- What challenges me?
- What drives me to get out of bed each day?
- What/Who makes me sad?
As we grow and journey through life, our experiences mean that the answers to these questions change, so, grab yourself and pen and paper and write your answers down, then ask yourself the question WHY?
Am I just clinging on to the past or do these things genuinely mean something to me?
“Sometimes we have to let go in order to regain control”
So if you’re feeling stuck, now is the time to allow yourself to just let go…
- Let go of the things that are no longer relevant in your life.
- Let go of the relationships that are dragging you down.
- Let go of the limiting beliefs.
By now, you are most probably wondering what this has to do with being under refurbishment…well, the fact of the matter is, it’s been 6 years since my diagnosis of cancer and the past 4 years have been a continual journey of discovery.
I have relaunched myself countless times, but now find myself, at almost 50, in a place where I am in need of both a physical and mental refurbishment. So much time has been spent on just keeping on going (like many others do) that I forgotten to service the main component – the engine.
I am still young, yet there have been days here I feel so old, because of this I decided this old engine needed a refurb! So, taking the bull by the horns, I returned to yoga three weeks ago, have had some sports massage and Thai massage to get those muscles working more freely, but tomorrow brings a whole new realm for me in the form of a Thai abdominal massage. Having not had one before I am somewhat intrigued as to the process, however, in a bid to get the gut working more efficiently I know it will be wholly beneficial, From here I shall be taking back control of my diet and eating habits – nothing complicated, no calorie counting, no weighing out portions, just adding more colour to the plate, cutting out the beige and steering clear of the refined sugar.
My intention? Well that is to reset the gut, in doing so I can reduce inflammation in the body, re-balance my hormones, improve prove sleep patterns and bring about a greater focus.
You may think me mad by wanting to start the process right at the start of the festive season, with meals out, parties, mince pies and chocolates, but what better way to start the new year.
Whilst this journey of refurbishment is mine, I’ll be sharing it as I go along, so keep your eyes peeled for regular updates on Blogs, Vlogs & Newsletters.
